Common conditions we encounter daily include:

Neck Pain

  • Whiplash is a neck injury that occurs as a result of forceful movement of the head in one direction, followed by a rapid return in the opposite direction.

This injury is frequently associated with car accidents.

  • Wry neck can be caused by muscle spasms or tightness in the neck muscles can lead to wry neck. These spasms may result from factors such as muscle strain, injury, or poor posture.

  • A bulging disc can occur anywhere along the spine but is most commonly found in the lumbar (lower back) or cervical (neck) regions.

Disc bulge occurs when the outer layer of the disc weakens or degenerates, and the inner gel-like substance starts to push against the weakened area. This can cause the disc to extend beyond its normal boundary.

Back Pain

  • It refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back, through the buttocks, and down the back of each leg.

Sciatica is primarily characterised by pain that radiates from the lower back down one or both legs. The pain can vary in intensity, from a mild ache to a sharp, shooting pain.

  • Soft tissue injuries are a frequent source of back pain, encompassing harm to muscles, ligaments, tendons, or other pliable components within the back.

Such injuries may stem from diverse origins, such as abrupt trauma, excessive use, improper posture, or gradual degenerative alterations.

Shoulder Pain

  • Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that affects the shoulder joint and causes pain and restricted movement. It typically progresses through stages and can last for several months to a few years.

  • Shoulder arthritis is a condition characterized by the inflammation, pain, and degeneration of the shoulder joint.

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis and occurs due to the wear and tear of the joint's cartilage over time. As the cartilage deteriorates, bones may rub against each other, causing pain and stiffness.

  • A shoulder fracture refers to a break or crack in one or more of the bones that make up the shoulder joint.

Shoulder fractures can occur due to various causes, most commonly as a result of trauma, falls, sports injuries or motor vehicle accidents

  • Shoulder dislocation occurs when the upper part of the arm bone (humerus) comes out of the shoulder socket (glenoid). This type of injury can be painful and can cause immediate loss of shoulder function.

Knee Pain

  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), also known as runner's knee or anterior knee pain, is a common condition characterised by pain and discomfort around the front of the knee, specifically where the patella (kneecap) contacts the femur (thigh bone). PFPS often results from issues related to the patella and its movement within the femoral groove.

  • Knee osteoarthritis (OA), often simply referred to as knee arthritis, is a degenerative joint condition that primarily affects the knee joint. It is the most common form of arthritis and occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears away, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

  • A knee meniscus tear is a common injury that affects the meniscus, which is a C-shaped cartilage structure in the knee joint. The menisci act as shock absorbers, cushioning and stabilising the knee joint during movement. A tear in the meniscus can result from various degeneration or sports injuries

  • A Baker's cyst, also known as a popliteal cyst, is a fluid-filled sac that forms in the back of the knee. It develops as a result of excess synovial fluid, which is a lubricating fluid that normally surrounds the knee joint, being pushed into the back of the knee, causing a bulging cyst.

  • Prepatellar bursitis is a condition characterised by inflammation and swelling of the prepatellar bursa, a small sac located in front of the kneecap (patella).

When the prepatellar bursa becomes inflamed, it can lead to pain and discomfort in the front of the knee. Prepatellar bursitis is typically caused by repetitive friction, pressure, or trauma to the knee.

Ankle Pain

  • An ankle sprain is a common injury that occurs when one or more ligaments in the ankle are stretched or torn. Ankle sprains are typically the result of the ankle rolling, twisting, or turning beyond its normal range of motion.

  • Ankle ligament tears can range from mild to severe, depending on the extent of the injury. It can occur due to inversion injury, eversion injury, high-impact activities, or accidental falls.

  • An ankle fracture is a break or crack in one or more of the bones that make up the ankle joint. Ankle fractures can vary in severity, ranging from minor fractures that involve a small crack in one bone to more complex fractures that may displace the bones and affect the stability of the joint.

Pre/Post Operative Rehabilitation

  • Total knee replacement is a surgical procedure used to treat advanced knee arthritis or severe knee joint damage. During the surgery, the damaged or worn-out parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial components, which can significantly reduce pain and improve joint function.

  • Total hip replacement is a surgical procedure used to treat severe hip joint pain and dysfunction caused by various conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, hip fractures, and other hip joint problems. During the surgery, the damaged or diseased parts of the hip joint are replaced with artificial components to restore pain-free mobility and improve joint function.
